In this video, Sharpsburg Chiropractor, Dr. Matthew Davis, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, shares important information from today’s news showing that chronic inflammation may be the cause of many diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease and cancer.
When germs invade your body, your immune system sends out cells and proteins to kill them. As soon as the germs are killed, your immune system stops sending out these cells and proteins. However, if your immune system keeps sending out cells and proteins, it becomes overactive. An overactive immune system begins to attack and damage your own healthy cells which produces chronic inflammation. It turns out that certain foods cause your immune system to become overactive.
These include but are certainly not limited to:
• sweetened beverages and sugar-added foods
• foods made with flour and other refined carbohydrates
• some red meat
• processed meats
margarine, shortening, lard and fried foods.
Just as there are food that can we know will cause chronic inflammation, there are also foods that block the chronic inflammatory process.
