In this video, Dr. Matthew Davis, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, shares important information from today’s news showing studies show that common everyday foods are being spiked with two food additives that have been linked to obesity and colorectal cancer. Although you may think that these additives are only found in so called fast foods, you may be shocked to find the—they’re also found in some so-called health foods.
Two emulsifiers used by the food industry, carboxymethylcellulose and polysorbate 80, or Tween 80 have been found to be extrememly are harmful to your body and should be avoided at all costs. By altering important microbes found in the gut, this may be contributing to the risk for colorectal cancer. Researchers believe the incidence of colorectal cancer has increased over the last 50 years due to our altered intestinal environment for the development of tumors that’s caused by these additives.
Even low concentrations of these emulsifiers have been shown to induce inflammation, obesity and metabolic syndrome in mice. Metabolic syndrome is a group of symptoms that includes high blood sugar, cholesterol, and is often a precursor of over fifty health conditions, including heart disease and cancer.
There’s no good reason to use either of these toxic ingredients; the reality is there are many wholesome ingredients that perform the same functions. But the food industry does not want to spend the money to protect the health of its consumers. What’s worse, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies these food additives as safe.
