In this weeks video health tip, Dr. Samir Hajariwala, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, takes a look at how you can reduce the risk of obesity and diabetes by simply eating avocados.
Avocados are one of the healthiest foods you can eat.
Avocados are filling, packed with fiber, and are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, including the B vitamins, potassium and vitamin K.
Researchers recently discovered avocados also possess a rare fat molecule, avocatin B (AvoB), which has a positive effect on reducing insulin resistance which helps in reducing the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
The potential risk of developing Type 2 diabetes is also dependent on your lifestyle and genetics.
Since there is very little you can do about your genetics, there are some healthy lifestyle choices you can make including:
1. A healthy diet which includes:
-Increased fruits and vegetables.Eat high fiber foods like avocado
-Eat healthy fats like avocado
-Decrease sugar and processed foods
2. Daily Exercise
3. Regular Chiropractic Care
-Restoring spinal alignment
-Removing subluxations
