In this weeks video health tip, Dr. Samir Hajariwala, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, takes a look at healthy habits that will promote longer and better life.
Today there is overwhelming evidence healthful lifestyle habits not only extend how long you live but also improve your quality of life in your later years.
Longevity is determined by both genes and lifestyle, with genes contributing approximately 7%, making your lifestyle habits the most important.
In North America, the average man lives to age 76, and the average woman to age 81. Harvard researchers have recently found certain healthy habits can extend life expectancy by 14 years for women and by 12 years for men.
Here are some of the healthy habits that will help you live a longer and better life:
1. Eat a diet rich in plants and low in bad fats.
2. Moderate to vigorous exercise several hours a week.
3. Maintain a healthy weight
4. Avoid smoking and alcohol, but if you do drink, consume no more than 1 alcoholic beverage a day for women and 2 for men.
Regular chiropractic care has also been proven to improve health and vitality by:
1. Eliminating pain and inflammation,
2. Reducing fatigue, and
3. Restoring normal nerve flow.
Remember you and your family can be as healthy as can be, and it’s never too soon to start receiving chiropractic care. Your best source for everything health is your chiropractor.
